Channel News Nanyang (CNNY)

A' level is on its way. let's tackle it with flying colours : )

To all j1s who are taking H1 chinese, and especially j2s, work hard and jiayou for your exams. cnny is behind you always!

yiping =)

Hello to all once again!

The CCA trainings for this year has ended yesterday, thank you to all who have attended the last training session. Like what the trainers have said, "this batch produces the most videos and the best videos," so this is actually a good ending for this year's training.

We all see that everyone, excos and members, have been putting in a lot of efforts in the roving dv and dv campus. Starting from planning, scripting, filming till editing, all of you played a crucial role to produce very nice news clips for your groups. Everyone took turns in making the production possible even though we were also working hard for promos. Without the assistance from you members, the excos would not be able to pull through during the production period. Thank you very much!

Due to the different topics, many groups encountered different kinds of experiences. For example, groups doing on health camp had to rushed with the time and capture as much footages as possible since it was a one-off event; holistic health groups had to be thick-skinned and barge into the many sports training to do the filming and in some cases requested them to act out some parts; last group doing on food recycling faced many obstacles as their topics kept changing until september (from "The Hunt" to "PE Enrichment" to "sports carnival" and eventually "food recycling" ). Lastly, the only group that participated in the grandpa/grandma competition for Stomp had did a great job for this video production, it is natural and touching.

I'm glad to announce that all the above clips have been completed and almost all submitted. Let's sit back and relax for the time being and enjoy our holiday. We shall await for possible good news next year when the results are ready.

Next year's cca training will be internalised, no more external trainers for the start of year. Be prepared, it's going to be more fun and interesting! And our cnny own made "NY Nonstop" studio production next year which the news we filmed will be broadcasted on all the tvs in the college.

We look forward to your attendance next year! Once again, thanks for your participation and enthusiasm put in cnny this year.

Cheers,
yiping

-Kenwyn [on behalf of the j1 eXcos]

The very friendly Captain Ball's match.

They were reluctant, but i managed to snap this eventually.

Rachel's group. (:

Zuosheng's the reason why we should play captain's ball
(with him in our team, of course!)

And this is my team. We are good lor (:

And yes, they won. (Because of Zuosheng.)

See the balloons? They were from Karen and Charlene.
We have niccce juniors!!

3 Teams became 1.

And we were early, so we camwhored.

The third attempt. They said the other two aren't nice.

The exco. With XX missing :(

And XX finally returned, so tada~
Girls' Power.
Presenting to you: Cnny Exco '07-'08

This is the biggest group photo.
Cnny exco, '07-'08 + '08-'09
Missing: Daniel & YeeTing :(

And here are some nice random shots, enjoy!

See, reporters can film!

Oh classic. Our favourite board.

Random scribbles on a random paper found on CCA room's table.
Randomness is nice.

Our trademark: Gambling.
Playing professional Big 2.

Hahahs! Huyang, don't killl me.

The cameraman's emoing because he got no friends.
His friends were all playing the very amazing race.

A nice scenery I spotted while playing water bombs.

And yeah, MR CHENG visited us after all the bombings!!

And finally, the couple keychain for Yiping&Kenwyn.
They sticked like paper, according to Rach.
Funny description larh!

And here are some sad news:
#1. I don't have much of ex-ex-exco's pictures.
Any of you with these pictures please upload them on Cnny's friendster yeah?
#2. I forgot my very amazing race present. Someone must have stolen mine! Hahahs.
#3. Hongchen and I have reserved the grey bottles from Canadian Pizza but forgot to take them. So j1 exco, kindly pass it to us when you see us. laugh out loud.
#4. We forgot to pass Zuosheng the XXL's CCA tee! kuku right?! Haish.
Wonder when's the next time we see him. So yeah, Zuosheng, if you're reading this, I am implying that you must come back again!!
#5. This may be my last post on Cnny's blog, or at least for the upcoming months. This explains why I posted some of the pictures on the blog and wrote captions for each of them.
But more importantly, there must be someone who's taking over this pictures-uploading job.
So yeah, j1 exco, who's as patient/competent as me? Hahahahs. Just kidding la.

Once again,
yesterday was a blast. (yes, Yiping, it was!)
We especially like the choice of the final destination-The place we are so so familiar of, where we feel warmth and love!
Thank you everyone who was present (:

Alright,
Think I shall end here.
I am so eagerly waiting for Jas to post her first entry here!
Jas, you better don't go against your words!!

Before i end this, allow me to make some wishings:
#1. May everyone do really really well for exams. A's and Promos.
(P.S. WE ALL CAN DO IT!! )
#2. May the current exco bring CNNY to greater heights.
(we have much faith in you guys!)
#3. May everyone in CNNY be blessed with good health.

And yeah,
As i always say:
WE ROCK.

So long,
Lihui.

heyheyyyy everyone.. :)

NOW is post-mids for me. those taking bio, jia you jia you!!

it's amazing how time really flies yea?.. just a while ago it was my first post here, and then a few posts before, it was yiping's first post. :P

am really encouraged by the next batch's enthusiasm.. i think it was what my batch generally lacked in.. but i'm glad to see how y'all keep meeting up. those who love working together, stay together. :) may the next batch forge even closer bonds and friendships within y'all!

am totally so gonna miss CNNY... the times we ran about doing last min coverage for the school or for our production, the times we made mistakes and got into a little trouble, the times we had fun filming our SVA together and making external friends :) those were most memorable..

and we gotta thank Mr Cheng for being so patient and kind towards us too. he's the most generous teacher i know so far... and he'd go all out to help us when we need it. thank you, Mr Cheng!! :)

work hard, j1s! learn from our mistakes and move forward too. it'll be an interesting journey ahead for y'all. enjoy it! :)

love ya all,
rachel (:

Okay, for the J1s, yes. It's after mids. But work hard J2s! One more week! Btw, this is a shoutout to the J1 excos... Post farewell party details soon! & uh, I'm representing all J2 excos to say that... we don't want soft toys for presents! I think all the excos will agree with me right? Haha :)

Tbh, idk what to buy either. It's quite troublesome right! Haha. Anw, yeah, something to share (which I also told Kenwyn..) If you don't know what to get, get something from you like cuz the reciever will probably like it, since it's a gift from the heart :)

Okay, I'm back to war. Luv everyone!

- Sher

(Please be patient- loading may take a few minutes.)

Laugh Out Loud!

Hi Everyone!

This is the first time I write an entry for cnny, hope it isn't too bad.

Mediacamp has ended successfully and generally smoothly. We have to really thanks mr cheng and our j2 seniors who organised everything. At the same time, not forgetting the ex-excos(yifang's batch) for sacrificing their time to come back on the first day of mediacamp. It has definitely boost the morale of cnny. Most importantly, each and everyone of you ( j1s) were very significant in the process, because without you, we will not be able to run the camp. You are'll have undoubtly performed well as facilitators despite facing different challenges and difficulties in terms of cooperating with the respective schools, and also to guide them efficiently. I can understand, because I faced those problems as well. However, as what mr cheng has said, this is the first time, among many batches, that the participating schools were able to finish editing and submit their products on the first day and thus not a need to drag it to the second day. With this, please give yourself a clap! : ) You are wonderful!

Next, the exco's result is out. For those names that appear on the blog, I shall congradulate you, because you really deserve it. I know that some of you got a position that you didn't put in for both your first and second choices. Fret not, this means that the seniors have faith in you and believe that you can do well in that area. You should also trust their judgement and have trust in your ability. I hope that we excos will work together well in the coming one and a half year, assisting each other and bring out the best to cnny!

On the other hand, many of you might not have gotten a position. It's definitely something upset with a tinge of emptiness...I've experienced it before, but I hope that you can recover from your sadness in these few days, or try not to think about it for the time being. Like what shermaine has posted, you are all valuable members of cnny. Without the members, cnny will never go far. Thus, don't belittle yourself, you are all great people with great abilities. Let's hope we will have more fun and laughter working together in the coming journey. Be optimistic!

Rest well,
yiping : )

Media Camp is finally over, and I guess we can call it a success! Good job everyone! I suppose Mr Kwek is quite pleased because a sec school teacher praised the facils! :D Hip hip hooray! :) :)

Okay I'll not beat about the bush. I'm going to announce the list of Excos on the blog right now because I was the last to call my successor & he was still quite optimistic hahha I thought he'd be disappointed since everyone else got their calls quite early... except him :/

So.... your future Excos are....

Director: Lim Yi Ping
D. Director: Sito Kenwyn

Reporting (C): Wu Xiao Tong
Reporting (E): Charlene Tan

Head of Videography: Benny Wong
D. Head of Videography: Tang Ding Lun

Head of Editing: Lim Thai Xiong
D. Head of Editing: Daniel Tan

Head of Logistics: Karen Ho
D. Head of Logistics: Tan Jia Hui

As you can see, some people got a position that they did not run for. This is much regretted, but we feel that this team we have chosen is the best. It's really been hard for us to decide which roles to assign to you guys since 21 of you ran for Exco elections. No doubt, there are more than 10 candidates whom we feel have the potential to be an Exco. However, it is not wise to elect the Excos based solely on our own preferences. We've given it much thought and the decisions are final. We hope everyone can understand this.

Please do not feel upset if you did not get a position. You're all still valuable members to our CCA. Without the members, we'd be nothing. We wouldn't have enough manpower participate in any competitions, not to mention production.

Okay I just realised that my post, compared to previous years, is much much longer. Well pardon me alright! I've got so much more to say :(

Hmm, fine maybe I'll not say them today! I'll save it for some other time haha. Okay bye! & SITO KENWYN... YOU DENSE PIG! Hahaha! Okay I tell you all... as I said... he's the last to be contacted, at about 7 plus, then hor... he think he's deputy head of logistics luh!!! Haha damn funny hor?! Okay nevermind random. I need sleep!!! Shall go rest now haha :D

XOXO,
Shermaine
(no long a DD *whines )

hello everybody...

mediacamp's just around the cornerr!!! (refer to the previous post)

soon, we'll be handing over to the next batch of J1s! time really flies....

we seniors see quite a good lot of potential here in you juniors... so keep the good attitude and spirit going!! we're all hoping that you'll bring CNNY to an even greater height! :)

elections coming very soon... feeling a little reluctant for that day, but i'm feeling pretty excited too. :) i believe most of you chose to join CNNY because of the passion.. because when i came in, i knew almost nothing about editing or camera or reporting. passion can drive you to find out about the things you don't know if you're really interested. so keep CNNY going nowhere but UP!! we feel very relieved and assured by the good potential we see in you, J1s!!

one of the things i found hardest to do, was to balance studies with CCA. that one's no surprise. it happens to anyone with more than one committment. but it's still no joke.. sooner or later you're gonna be leading others already... but the experience i got from being director was definitely worth the while... i learnt so much i wouldn't trade it for anything else. hope that y'all will make CNNY yours and enjoy it. :)

okay.. just to encourage y'all juniors before we officially step down on thursday... i hope y'all don't feel the stress!! :)

jiayou and show your leadership on the day of mediacamp!

:)rachel
