1. Eligibility
All schools from primary to junior college level are invited to submit video news reports about their school for this academic year. This can include activities held outside the school.
2. Format:
2.1. Entries may be in English or Chinese, maximum video duration 1 min 30 sec each.
2.2. Every entry must include a piece-to-camera by a student reporter.
2.3. For copyrights reasons, do not add any music soundtrack to the clip.
2.4. Format for entries: Mini DVC tape (in SP mode).
For each entry, please send the following:
· Clip A with the narration/voice-over mixed with the visuals.
· Clip B with only the natural sound and interview ound-bites (that is, without the narration).
· Narration/voice-over as a separate voice track.
2.5 Each school can submit up to 4 entries in total (for both languages). They should be on different subjects/topics. Schools may choose to submit 2 clips (one in English, the other in Chinese) on the same topic.
2.6 Each entry must be accompanied by a soft copy of the script.
3. Telecast Details:
3.1 The closing date for all entries is 6 Oct 2006
3.2 Between 30 Oct and 3 Nov 2006, the best 5 entries will be whon on the news, one a day over 5 consecutive days so viewers can vote on them. These SMS votes will form part o the points that help decide the winning entry.
3.3 However, we advise schools to start submitting their entries from 1 July onwards and not wit till the closing date. This is because starting 5 Aug 2006, suitable entries will be selected for broadcast on MediaCorp’s Chinese and English weekend news bulleting. So if your school’s entry does not make it to the top 5 finalists, it still has a chance to be seen on prime time news. But if it does make it to the list o finalists, it will be aired twice.
3.4 MediaCorp reserves the rights for all usage of the clip on its television channels.
4. Judging Criteria:
4.1 The MediaCorp panel of judges will be looking at news value, quality of audio and video in clip, scripting, editing and narration.
4.2 Points will also be given for the piece-to-camera by the student reporter.
5. Submission of entries:
These can be dropped off personally at MediaCorp Reception at Caldecott Broadcast Centre, or they can be sent by registered mail to:
