hello everybody...
mediacamp's just around the cornerr!!! (refer to the previous post)
soon, we'll be handing over to the next batch of J1s! time really flies....
we seniors see quite a good lot of potential here in you juniors... so keep the good attitude and spirit going!! we're all hoping that you'll bring CNNY to an even greater height! :)
elections coming very soon... feeling a little reluctant for that day, but i'm feeling pretty excited too. :) i believe most of you chose to join CNNY because of the passion.. because when i came in, i knew almost nothing about editing or camera or reporting. passion can drive you to find out about the things you don't know if you're really interested. so keep CNNY going nowhere but UP!! we feel very relieved and assured by the good potential we see in you, J1s!!
one of the things i found hardest to do, was to balance studies with CCA. that one's no surprise. it happens to anyone with more than one committment. but it's still no joke.. sooner or later you're gonna be leading others already... but the experience i got from being director was definitely worth the while... i learnt so much i wouldn't trade it for anything else. hope that y'all will make CNNY yours and enjoy it. :)
okay.. just to encourage y'all juniors before we officially step down on thursday... i hope y'all don't feel the stress!! :)
jiayou and show your leadership on the day of mediacamp!
:)rachel

some acknowledgements
J2 excos: just sent an email to you girls :) i'll spare this post from further "emo"tion. few words for you girls: 'the only way to go is up'.
to the J2s: the past few weeks working with y'all was such a pleasure. i never knew such a level of enthusiasm existed in you (don't take this as an insult!). you were surprisingly (not just my group) happy and determined to get your VOs and editing not just done, but done well. i'm proud of my J2s. :)
to the J1s: i hope my batch serves as a batch from you to learn from. we all have our weaknesses and strengths, so it's only normal that sometimes things go wrong. but never use that as an excuse for any slack when trying times come. i believe CNNY's always been a family, and will continue to be. so keep that family spirit going... when you take over, which is in a matter of weeks..
stay strong, J1s and J2s. mid years are coming.. and so is mediacamp... let's make this year's mediacamp another great success! let's prepare to the best of our abilities!! we can do it!!! :):)
love y'all!!!
rachel :)
A long emo post.
We just finished filming the Volleyball Boys' A Div Finals today.
Met with rough pathes along the way which made ej and I felt kinda unjust. Haha.
But come to think of it, maybe it's just inevitable that media representatives are sometimes neglected & belittled. As reporters, it is only our responsibility to ensure that people acknowledge us, (and not ignore our presence) before they will agree to grant an interview. I didn't manage to do this today, maybe because i didn't chase after interviewees like i previously did. For this, it's my fault. :(
So yes, if you ever chance upon the role of a reporter, let it all out and make worthy interviews with nice people. Don't ever hesitate or procrastinate, for the very next minute, the interviewee may no longer be there.
Guess this is what our seniors meant by 'picking up reporting skills through work and experience'. :D
Anyways,
Was full of emotions after a heart-to-heart talk with ej, followed by a phone call with Rachel.
I know i may not be in the best position to make comments but i really feel like penning down my feelings and be understood. So, sorry in advance if i may sound a bit overbearing later.
Well, most of us are utmost apologetic for not having contributed more or done better for the past few months. It does feel that we lack what it takes to be a worthy exco. We are perhaps, too academic oriented. It also does seem that most of us are pressured by the piles of homework and the upcoming Mid Year Exam. Plus our fiasco as leaders for CNNY, it becomes impossible to stay happy.
10 ways to turn the frown upside down.
1. Be less virtual, more 3-D.
" If you sit at a computer all day, get up and indulge in some human contact instead. Even time with strangers ramps up your sense of well-being."
2. Make a list of things you truly appreciate.
"Counting your blessings may be the single most helpful thing you can do for your happiness quotient."
3. Rack 'em up.
" Think of every positive experience during the day as a bead on a string and see how they add up. This makes you focus on even the smallest possible moments."
4. Think memorable, not material.
" Memory of a good time with friends or loved ones last forever."
5. Go to the funny side.
" Humour amplifies the good things; so try to smile at the absurdities of life."
6. Escape to your stress-free zone.
" Forgo your work and undulge in something that will make you feel calm and happy."
7. See the glass as half full.
" If you stop and assess the stuffs in life, you'll see you actually have them pretty good."
8. Find your inner artist.
" Engaged in activities that you truly like- joyful expression can bring happiness."
9. Do something good.
" Deliver acts of kindness as often as possible. However small, they will brighten up your day."
10. Seize the moment.
" If you feel like doing something, do it now. Go ahead and be happier."
I was pretty glad to have read this and seriously hope that some of these methods will really allow us to retrieve our long-lost smiles.
Hmms.. afterall, life is not just about studies. Going back to the fundamentals, like treating people around you better and giving best shots in whatever duties we have do seem to bring more genuine and longlasting happiness, don't they?
Oh, & i can't agree more with that last point.
Somehow, maybe our exco failed to accomplish great because we tend to speak more than we act, allowing time to flow unknowingly. Of course, we only have ourselves to blame.
There are some problems that long prevail. some of us tried really hard to resolve while some of us chose to ignore. Since we jolly-well know feigning ignorance is unjust,
let's unite and give our best for the remaining month okay? :D
We can do wonders if we want to.
Yes, we really really can.
Let's all step down proudly.
So let's meet at the CCA room tmr alright?
Meanwhile, I have created a flickr link for cnny.
www.flickr.com/photos/cnny
And if you really spare your time to read all of this, i am seriously thankful.
I hope that every CNNY member, not just the excos, will have a burning desire to contribute after reading this.
Hereby, i still need to thank avril, szexia and yihui for being such great members in my group! :D
I love you all, CNNY.
Take care.
Lihui.
I'm sorry, Rachel, for being impatient when I speak to you these days.
I'm sorry to the J1s, if our plans for the day was horribly disappointing.
I'm sorry for pissing anyone off today, if I did.
I'm sorry for shouting, I shouldn't have.
I'm sorry for everything I've done wrongly, I'm sorry for being mean.
---
Once again, we've missed out on a studio scene!! I think we're all pretty absent-minded hahaha. Oh well~ Guess we gotta do it again, thank goodness it's just a short scene eh! I'm sure we can do it! Hahaha :) Okay I'm being very random now and I've so got to do my H1 project. Till then~!

heyhey everyone! :)
great job, and thumbs-up to our zhu bos huyang and xingli for studio today and everyone else involved!! despite us being kinda blur in this first time, i'd say we were really cooperative with one another and i hope we all learnt something today that we can apply for our next episode. let's all learn from the mistakes made from today and remember what not to do for the next one. :)
i know we all need to balance out studies and cca, so let's all just do our equal best for both even when we feel most tired. :) i have faith in you all that we'll be able to pull the next one off really well!! JIA YOU!!
next cca on wed will be a mock shoot for the J1s and editing of studio for the J2s. a few of the J2s will be assigned to follow the juniors around for their mock shoot.

there's great excitement in the air!
hellos to all. :D
hahas. yeah, to blog before the big day arrives.
5th march.
tomorrow.
tomorrow's the day where the little cute kids meet, er, the not-so-cute giants! (to them, we're indeed huge people okay.. so don't smack me for making this statement.)
it's the very first external event that we will be organizing -
actually it will, especially since we have spongebob to 'cajole' them! haha.
btw, i have to apologise for the one camera left.
i am very very sorry.
i hope things will still be managable with that one remaining.
do be extra careful with it. strap it around your neck at all time!
we can't trust the tripod completely. (it failed me the other day.)
alright, not to dampen the mood,
tomorrow's also the
i will bring my cam along and camwhore all the way. (provided we don't get all so tensed up and forget the presence of this powerful tool, which i doubt so, anyway.)
yes. it's all our effort paid off.
suddenly, i begin to wonder if we will feel nostalgic tomorrow.
haha. reminiscing the good old days when we frequented SPCA, bugged josiah, have hell loads of fun with benny and zoe, woke up in the wee hours to catch the pets 'school bus' at k9, went to the pets roadshow and got all frenzied and panicky over editing and exporting, badgering our seniors for their help!
and tomorrow's the bonus.
we shall pray hard that we get something more than mediocre, like what Mr Cheng suggested.
let's all keep our fingers crossed.
alright.
meanwhile, it's back to mugging.
everyone, jiayou many many for the upcoming block test!! :D
may good luck befall all of us. (:
take care.
Lihui.
HELLO! :D
Since Leap Year happens only once a year, I feel the need to update the blog to commemorate this special day. Haha.
As I promised, the details for 5th March's Primary School Sharing.
First and foremost, the groupings.
Group 1
Xingli (in charge of Camera)
Huyang
Avril
Hong Chen
Michelle
Group 2
Felicia (in charge of Camera)
Siew Chwen
Cailing
Sze Xia
Yeeting
Group 3
Shelia (in charge of Camera)
Huiyi
Yi Hui
Li Dan
Shermaine
Those in charge of Camera, you are expected to help the students hold on to the Camera while travelling, and to assist them when they have any difficulties or inquiries.
For the rest, please guide the students when they are writing their scripts as we presume that this will be their first time doing so.
The Excos will be around only to assist the members when they are in doubt as I feel that the J2s should have a chance to take charge.
I'd like to take this chance to emphasise that it is VERY IMPORTANT for everyone to familiarise with the camera BEFORE the sharing session.
Now, for the details.
Reporting time: 2.3opm (right after Assembly)
Venue: 05-60 (LEP ROOM)
Do not worry about your stomachs as LUNCH WILL BE PROVIDED. So I expect everyone to be punctual and WILL NOT tolerate any latecomers, unless Assembly drags after 2.30pm. The Excos involved will be excused from Assembly to rehearse their presentations.
Theme for Sharing Session
Primary school students touring NYJC's CCAs.
Further details
Filming: All groups will go to ALL venues, filming the various CCAs we have planned for them to visit.
Interviews: They will interview their fellow schoolmates/group mates about their feeling towards the tour.
The venues and routes to take has yet to be confirmed, but I will let you guys know the details asap.
--------------------------------------------
On a lighter note..
RACHEL! Why you put inverted commas at the handsome huh! They are handsomes WITHOUT the inverted commas! Pffts.
You know you love me,
XOXO
heyheyy!!! (:(:
great job everyone on getting more J1s for cca bazaar! :] we have 35 more in the new list, with 11 GUYS in total! yifang, you can put your mind at peace. we all did a pretty good job on publicity.. let's all continue to set a good example for the J1s!
5th March's one big big thing that's coming up! :) J2s by now would hav confirmed groupings alr to lead all the kiddies for the mini mediacamp... a pity that the enthusiastic J1s (shermaine's 'handsome's) can't make it for this one... :/ anyway ppl do clarify your doubts abt scripting, editing or camera handling, and most importantly, do your best and have fun that day!~
second big event's the School Digital Media Awards' ceremony! :] so glad our hardwork paid off! great job, PETS ppl! at least we're winning something (hopefully something big)! and we're all wondering if the press interview means something too... so yeppp pple keep your hopes up! can't wait for the results!! :):)
cya gals (and guys) soon!
:)rachel_
Hey people!
Just want to wish you guys a HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR! ^^ Play hard this holidays yeah?
Lots of Love,
Shermaine
((:
although we don't know what it really means by being one of the top 11 finalists,
i believe it's some good news.
erms, the voting for viewers' choice has apparently closed.
but it's okay, all it matters is the judges' choice.
& i still believe both groups will still manage to clinch some award.
let's have faith and pray hard!
http://www.evideo.edu.sg/sdma/voting_listing.asp?ct=1
this is the link, go view it. (:
btw,
to the j1s,
i think you guys are really enthusiastic!!
especially the group that i followed for the mock shoot.
you guys are really high and very lame.
haha.
hope you guys have enjoyed.
and lastly,
to sze xia, avril and yihui,
thanks for staying up late with me in cnny room to capture, edit & export!
we guys have hell loads of fun doing the one's finalists' video.
& SC people said thank you.
haha.
yeahs, so let's have more fun shooting the real thing on monday!
(:
i am very happy.
Lihui.
ok, lame. anyway, just wanna drop by to say HI and also to thank everyone who have supported me in one way or another on TUESDAY=DD
special thanks to all=) especially when u all cheered so loudly for me!
ok, tuesday is the day I've been so utterly embarrassed of myself that i dun dare to have eye contact with anyone.i guess most people have the wrong impression. Just to clarify, i was asked to speak very very very slowly. I must admit I'm super scared (just to hear my voice echoing from the mike) but i will rather speak at a bullet train speed to get it over and done with rather than to prolong my time up there, watching those people laughing at me( for my supposedly robotic voice). Anyway, it's a good experience and maybe i can get the title for the funniest announcer of the year award. haha. And i was told it created a lot of impact all thanks to the 3 letter words and many had voted!!! all the best! I really really hope that we can win and done the school proud. indeed, i'm so proud of all the members=P
ok, li hui had uploaded some pictures so i shall upload them too=D
P.S i guess most people have know who I am right? haha.
i guess that's all for now..=)mayb next time i can add a video or two=D

XOXO,
Shermaine (haha like Gossip Girl)

okay, i know i am damn late.
but being damn late, i am still the earliest!
these are some pictures taken during attachment.
i know it's really 'some', but still, enjoy!

it's time for YOU GUYS to upload your pictures!
hurhur, you know who you are la!
btw, we are currently planning for j1 welcome session & the assembly sharing.
following up will be a series of filming for our studio productions!!
BUSY it may be, but it'll definitely be FUN!!
btw, i have talked to council and they have agreed to change the shooting of THE ONE's finalists on thurs common lunch break, 24th Jan, instead of Sat, 26th Jan.
yeah. i really told them saturdays are our off-days!
btw,
WE ROCK.
IMPT IMPT IMPT!!!!
hello everyone!!:):)
the student council has finally finalised our venue for the CCA bazaar this wed, 9th Jan.
VENUE: it'll be behind the (left) staircase (if u're facing the field) at the atrium area.
TIME: 3-5 pm [but please don't run away at 5... we need to clear up...]
MEETING TIME: they haven't told us yet.. but if im not wrong, we're dismissed early (about 2??). have a quick bite and chiong to do ur jobs! take note... everyone's gonna have something to do! :)
YOUR JOBS:
we're given 2 tables, 2 benches (frm canteen). we need girl(and a few men)-power. lilin and hongchen's group will be in charge of getting this done. report to the student council board and sign in our cca's name before you take the tables and chairs. :) we're obstructed by the round tables too, so that needs to be shifted somehow. lilin, check with council on where to place those round tables ok?
strong gal michelle, please get your group (if not enough can kop from others) to be in charge of getting the equipment down from the CCA room. equipment meaning...
-the cameras with a few randomly selected tapes (jasmine pls try to get just one small DV cam): 1 big one (that's all we have for now), one small one.
-the tripod (take 2 in case one *er-hm* happens to be faulty that day)
-condenser mic and mic with mic-cube.
-the files we cleaned last wk, put the brochures inside. (open it when u're talking to a junior and SHOW it to them. mic, sher will pass you guys the brochures).
-the souvenirs
-the black CNNY board that we use for studio purposes
-anything useful you see in the room that can be used for publicity
[that's as much as i can think of for now]
shermaine's group and my group (since both grps may have nothing left by then) will be in charge of taking down the useful stuff we have on our noticeboard, decorate the tables of our booth, and the fixing up of technical stuff. think we're gonna need help from other ppl on that too. just for both of us to look at: we need laptop and mr cheng's equipment. :)
very impt!! **all you people who went to mediacorp and took pictures, please send them to jasmine, who's collating them into a powerpoint which we'll be showing on our screen.
last, but definitely not the least, please bring along a BIG, WIDE, CRAZY smile on your face that won't scare the J1s away but will welcome them to join us!!! be enthu okay?!! :D don't shy. and try to catch as many as possible. the key is to get their names, class and CONTACT NO. ... a paper will be provided.
hmm.. what to talk about?? aiyohhh got so much to talk about...
1) what's Channel News Nanyang about
2) what we do
3) what you can expect when you join
4) what's so good about us
and more...
and yes, the pull-factor would be the mediacorp attachment. please mention that not many schools have this special privilege. :)
do let them explore the equipment that we have. eejia, yeeting (can rotate ppl)-- in charge of protecting the equipment esp when the J1s are handling it. talk about the interesting things we learn during the training sessions.. and how we get to go out filming as a team and stuff like that.. and that we even have our own special cozy room at the CCA block!
okay. so much for CCA bazaar. :) don't feel stressed ok? we're all doing it together! so have fun recruiting ppl!! :)
rachel_
heyyy CNNY!!!
got the news?? one of our DV campus videos are in the finals!!!
tune in to channel 8 6.30pm TODAY to catch it!! pls vote!!
i'm proud of you guys (and so are the seniors)!! so keep it up! (:
btw, i'm really encouraged by the number that turned up for spring cleaning. :) it was really nice to see everyone (although all were squished into our little cca room). now it's pretty cleaned up! and thanks to the ppl also who re-designed the cca brochure!
will update this blog soon on the impt calendar dates for first semester... it's gonna be a busy year ahead for us, j2s. :P let's all jia you for the upcoming cca bazaar!!! (:(:
rachel(:
hey cnny. (:
it's amazing how time flies.
only a few months ago,
our seniors were still battling with a's,
while we, those who participated in sva, were still very much uncertain of whether we will be able to do a good job.
now,
the j2s are carefree enough to throw away all their books, (let's be happy for them, it'll be our time to rejoice in just 11mths time, lol.) while i am proud to say that both groups have managed to produce rather pleasant documentaries that won't bore people to death.
kudos to us.
all the way from conceptualizing to filming, to editing, and lastly exporting, it's seriously tough.
but we did it, YEAH! :D
& also, not forgetting to thank zuosheng, lewis, shuning, jiawei and all other seniors who came by and gave us a great deal of help.
you're all greatly appreciated.
alright, after all these big THANK YOUs, it's down to serious work.
everyone, let's work very hard for next year, be it cnny or our studies.
2008 is definitely gonna be hectic,
but do turn up for cca,
it'll be fun fun fun for all because we will be
1. preparing for open house.
2. helping out THE ONE with their participants' videos.
eh, for more details, do ask rachel or shermaine.
haha. shirking off responsibility.
yea, so don't sian diao whenever cnny is mentioned.
there will be no more theory-based trainings but more of hands-on next year!
cheers to cnny. (:
have a great holiday and be back fully recharged for the ever-busy 2008 bah!
btw, randomly,
this is my first post. lol.
Lihui.
HELLO!
Hey people! How's your holidays coming along? Yeeting & I are currently at E-News Department, Mediacorp. Yep! It's our attachment week! :D
We're going to see WILBER PAN in 2hours time! Aren't you excited for us?! Hah :D Anyway, we're quite bored now that's why we're online & updating the blog to prevent it from rusting.
YES WE'RE REALLY BORED RIGHT NOW AND WE WANT TO INTRODUCE A VERY NICE CHINESE BOOK TO YOU GUYS! :D (CLICK ON THE TITLE IT'S A LINK)
《梦里花落知多少》
P.S: You can read it online. See! Save money!!
Well besides reading this book (WHICH YOU ALL SHOULD READ), we also learnt some stuff here at Mediacorp.
#01. Do not complain if you get into News instead of CA.
#02. Bring money for cab fare (can be claimed from the boss later on)
#03. Must rush for time so bring BREAD along.
#04. Do no fret when being 'forgotten' by the reporters you're following (how could they forget such cute little girls like us....)
#05. Do not let anyone else (besides the reporter you're with) know that you have no $$ to take cab.
#06. Do not let the other party (e.g. SCDF) know that you have no idea where their HQ is.
#07. Bring cameras to take photos. You'll never know who you're going to meet.
#08. Bring along a jacket/shawl wherever you go because you might end up somewhere cold (omg it rhymes!)
#09. Bring lots of empty bottles. (there are water coolers don't waste your house water)
#10. Be prepared to listen to some handsome/ugly man with a nice/unpleasant voice for hours.
#11. Get ready to reach home at midnight sometimes (okay, actually this only happened to me, ONCE)
That's probably all we've learnt so far. Oh wait, I think there's still one more.
#12. If you want to send a tape back to Mediacorp, tell the cameraman what you want to send back so that there is no tape wastage :D
So... I think that's about it. Most importantly, READ THE BOOK WE INTRODUCED!!!
Lots of love,

hello!~

hello people!!!
hope y'all did your best for promos!! (: time to get back to training...
CNNY training with trainers resumes:
Wed, 10th Oct
IT resource room 1
2pm-5pm (can be earlier or later, depending on diff grps.)
pls do come and try to complete as much of your group video as possible!!
okay that's it for now people, and hope you get back great results on friday!!!
oh and just in case you're wondering what we're actually doing for open house, mr cheng will be playing the videos made by CNNY for the secondary school students to see thru the TV broadcast.. yepp so you guys can slack for friday..
see y'all again soon :)
rachel_
hey people~
i hope the J1s will read this. it's really hard to communicate with you guys as a whole nowadays.
i know it's near promos and all, and i know everyone's really busy... but let's not sacrifice the already very minimum time we have for CNNY each week.
i hope we aren't taking CNNY for granted, cuz as Mr Cheng has said, when we compare ourselves with other CCAs, they train more than we do. our 1 day per week is all we have and i hope we'll all go for it. Mr Cheng was also kind enough to arrange appropriate timings for us because he considered the fact that we have our promos to worry about.
i hope you guys'll come regularly for future trainings. even if it's just a 2-3 hour training, it's essential for us to know what they're teaching us. i don't want to sound like i'm begging you guys to come. but we really don't have to wait for a threat (like during training today) to do this.
as much as you guys want the CCA to be united, i also hope for the same thing. so let's not wait for one another to do something. cuz nothing's going to happen like that. let's just do it together. if there's anything you want to say, just say it. it's been really quiet since we J1s took over. i hope you guys'll be honest with me as i am now with y'all. we can't read each others' minds.
CNNY's not mine, not the excos'. it's OURS. if one person falls, we all fall together. i want us to all be proud of CNNY. but it has to start somewhere more fundamental... like showing up for trainings.
so i hope you guys'll think about what i said. these are just words, just my dreams for CNNY. i hope it was straight-forward enough for you guys to understand... because the impression we're giving to others right now, isn't going to get us very far.
so let's pick ourselves up and keep going now--- it'll all be worthwhile in the end i promise.
i admit it's my fault that i didn't make this clear before. nevertheless, i hope now we'll be more motivated to do our best for CNNY, cuz everyone counts. all 25+ of us.
one thing that struck me today was when Mr Cheng told us that the college holds CNNY in high regard. and i thought, if we ourselves don't, how far can we get?
it's not too late to make things change for the better.
so don't slack or give up, everyone. =) if you feel like you're quite free, get yourself involved in helping others. our duty's to bring CNNY to a greater height. and i'm sure we're able to achieve it together!
rachel_

hi everyone!
it's my first time posting here... and i find myself a little lacking in words. (: [just thought i'd post my thoughts to start off... im sure the rest of the words will flow...]
when i first stepped into nanyang, i really didn't know what to expect. everything was new.
new environment, new culture, new friends, new seniors. initially i felt disconnected to almost everything... but thankfully after that, i started to find my way back on the track.
it took time, effort and courage for me to open up to people i was not familiar with. and all that was worth it because now i'm quite comfortable where i am.
i guess i can draw a parallel from that to CNNY. having started off not knowing anyone or anything, it also took time, effort and courage to be where i am now. i'm sure it has been that way for the rest of you as well.
Yi Fang has told me, "it's going to be a long journey." so my hope is that we'll forge a meaningful and lasting friendship that will carry us through. and may it be one that we will all look forward to walk through together as a united cca.
of course, i don't know all of you guys yet. but time will help build the relationships. as long as we're all willing, i'm sure we'll all bring CNNY to a greater height!
i'm definitely not just referring to the excos. now that the number of j1s are close to 20 people, i hope we all see a greater need for everyone to be a part in the building up of CNNY. you guys are the arms and legs of CNNY, just as essential. so let's look forward to working together. (:
our seniors have stepped down, but their footprints still remain for all of us to follow. the journey may be the same, but the lessons learnt will probably be different. (:
i look forward to seeing you guys again when school reopens. for now, let's work hard for what's ahead-- midyears. to you guys and the j2 seniors, all the best and jia you for your mid years!
till we all meet again,
:) rachel

Those who are interested in running for an exco post, you may still register with me.
So far I have 15 people on the list.
If you think you have the passion for our CCA, please do not hesitate to become an Exco!
We Need You!
Frankly speaking, before I joined CNNY, I didn't know anything about producing a news clip.
Most of us were from very different CCA backgrounds. In fact, among us we have people from NPCC, Choir, Band, Table Tennis, Red Cross, Volleyball, Media Club, etc.
So experience is not the priority but your enthusiasm for CNNY.
So yea, take up the challenge and bring CNNY to a greater height! ^^
See Ya!
Yifang =)

Here are the post that you can choose from:
1. Director
2. Deputy Director
3. Head of Reporting (English)
4. Head of Reporting (Chinese)
5. Head of Editing
6. Deputy Head of Editing
7. Head of Camera
8. Deputy Head of Camera
9. Head of Logistics
Please note that there will only be 9 Excos in your batch.
Similar to last year, we will start our exco election after Media Camp 07 on 30 May.
You are eligible of application if you help out in Media Camp(for at least one day).
Therefore, regardless you are a new member or not, so long as you have helped out in the camp, we welcome you! =) (This is because usually we use Media Camp as a platform to observe your performance. If you fail to turn up, all of us won't know your capabilities)
For those who are eligible, you are given 1-2 mins on self-introduction.You are allowed to choose two positions that you want the most. After which, your friend/supporter will come forward and convince us why you should be elected.
When all the candidates and their supporters have finished, we will start our voting. Both J1s and J2s must vote.
Your vote is compulsory and confidential.
(However, final decision will not be made base on popularities, but your overall performance)
You can leave after casting your vote.
New batch of excos will be notified through phone calls on that very evening.
So wait for our calls.
Please feel free to tag at the tagboard should you have any enquiries.

It'll be very useful for us to produce our news clips in the future!
Enjoy! =)
MEDIACORP NEW'S ROVING DV 2006 - FEEDBACK
SCHOOL
Nanyang Junior College
ENTRY
Film Festival
BROADCAST STATUS
Aired on 8 Oct 2006
JUDGES'FEEDBACK
Playing on the creativity of the JC's film festival made for an excellent theme for this report. It was a fun story, the students' response to the Film Fest came across well.
There were however some technical glitches to take note of for future reports.
The Chinese interview was done against a very noisy background.
The colour balancing was slightly problematic with some parts of the video appearing a little greenish.
The sound mix between different visuals was also a little abrupt at some points, especially the mix to rock band and away from rock band. One way is to fade up and down slightly before transitions where there is a distinct change in the level of ambience sound.
That said, we think this was a good clip and we are glad we had it for broadcast on our news bulleting, and we look forward to more entries from NYJC for Roving DV this year.
SCHOOL
Nanyang Junior College
ENTRY
MP Dialogue and Homecoming
BROADCAST STATUS
Aired on 18 Nov 2006
JUDGES'FEEDBACK
An interesting story, with a good mix of natural background sound and voice-voer. the pictures were well composed and well-shot, there was a good variety of pictures. the MP's connection with the students came across clearly.
However, it would have been interesting to have also heard what the MPs had to say about their own experiences as students. This could have made for some very engaging sound bites- eg what did they think of exams, boy-girl relationships, discipline in the JC etc. This was a golden opportunity which was not taken advantage of.
Student's piece to camera:
This came across a little hesitant. Remember, you are the reporter on the ground-your viewer wasn't there at the event. You know what transpired, you are the expert, so that confidence should come across. Aside from that, it was a very good delivery, you maintained eye contact with the camera throughout.
FYI- this clip was disqualified from the contest as the original entry submitted had a factual error with the MPs wrongly addressed as "Ministers". Factual accuracy is a vital criteria for all news reports.
However as this is a very good clip, MediaCorp News had contacted the school to re-submit an amended clip, so that it could still be aired even though it had been disqualified from teh competition itself.
=)

Hi
A Big Thank you to those who came down to help yesterday!
I believe it's an unforgettable experience for us as we don't always come across a 30th Anniversay celebration with this large scale.
I've received quite alot of positive comments on our 30th Anni video. Great job everyone! =)
Thank you to those who had helped to make it possible in one way or another.
The 3 weeks that we'd spent on storyboard-drafting, filming, interviewing and editing had certainly paid off. ^^
Take a good rest on labour day and we'll see each other again on 2nd May!
As usual, we will meet at 3pm in AVA Room.
Meida Camp is coming.

Hi all
Just a quick update.
There is no CCA on Wed as we are preparing for 30th Anniversary.
However, there will be a short briefing for those helpers (CNNY) on this coming Wed 25 April. 3pm at CCA Room.
(those who are helping out should know who you are as your leaders should have informed you by now. those who receives no message means no need to help out)
CCA will resume on 2 May for both J1s and J2s.
We will discuss about Media Camp.
Thank you.
Yifang =)

J2s, please get to know the J1s in your group and pass on whatever knowledge you have learnt.
J1s, you only have 2 months left to learn from the J2s, so do be more pro-active and learn as much as you can before we leave you.
Frankly speaking, I've seen some potential J1s among you, so do work hard! =)
There's CCA on this coming wed 3.00pm at AVA room.
Punctuality is important so please don't be late.
We are giving youall mini projects to try out on this wed. So the early we start the more time you will have.
See Ya!
